Boat Hire Service in Diani Beach
Private boat hire services are typically available from the afternoon because most mornings are reserved for dive trips and SSI scuba diving programs. Unless there's a prior booking to Kisite Mpunguti National Marine Park where the hired boat(s) have to leave in the morning. The private boat rentals we offer are for those who want more freedom on the ocean. Since we prefer to maintain the boutique-style, personalized and small group, high-quality service, we limit the number of individuals per boat per trip. Apart from that, there’s no set itinerary. Just time on the water at your own pace, guided by a knowledgeable crew from The Scuba Duka Diving Centre, someone who knows these conditions every day.

Trip to Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park

You can hire a boat to Robinson Island sandbank, Chale Island, Funzi Island, or ask for any customized package.
The boat comes with a captain and one crew member. We provide you with water and a fruit salad. You are welcome to bring additional snacks or soft drinks. Alcohol and intoxication are strictly prohibited.
We can plan private hire boat trips to Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park. This is one of the most protected reef areas in Kenya, known for its clear water, healthy coral, sea turtles, and rays. Dolphins are often seen on the journey there. Whale sharks pass through this area during the Kaskazi season between October and March. This is a full-day trip. We have two boats suitable for this trip.
The rates for the boat hire service are fixed, and they exclude the marine park fee. For the small boat Nia, the rate is $700 for up to 8 people. You get a captain with one crew member, along with a fruit platter and drinking water. You can arrange to bring your own snacks and soft drinks. Alcohol, any illegal drugs, or intoxicated people are strictly prohibited on the boat. There is an extra $50 per person for those who wish to dive at the park. We will provide you with the diving gear. Click on the photo to book.
For the larger boat Tai, the fee is $1200 per trip, accommodating up to 16 individuals. A captain and one crew member will be provided along with a fruit platter and water to drink. You may bring your own snacks and soft beverages. Bringing alcohol, illegal drugs, or being intoxicated is strictly forbidden on the boat. There is an additional charge of $50 per person for those who want to scuba dive in the park. We will supply the diving equipment. Click on the appropriate photo to book.

Do I need boating experience to rent a boat?
No. All rentals come with a local captain who handles the boat. You do not need any experience. The crew manages the water while you enjoy the trip.
How long can I rent a boat for?
Rentals are flexible and, for most days, are only available after morning dives; however, with early booking, full-day rentals are available for longer plans, like a trip to Kisite Mpunguti.
Is boat hire safe in Diani Beach?
Yes. Our captains plan every trip around daily weather and tide conditions. Life jackets are provided and all boats carry standard safety equipment. If conditions are not suitable, we do not depart.
What is the best time of day for a boat trip?
Typically, early mornings are usually the calmest and best. Afternoon trips work well for coastal cruising, though sometimes the wind can be stronger later in the day.
Can we visit Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park?
Yes. It is a longer trip and needs to be planned in advance based on conditions. It is a full-day excursion and one of the most popular options for guests who want to go further out.
How many people can fit on a rental boat?
We have boats of different sizes to suit couples, families, and small groups. Let us know how many people are coming when you book, and we will recommend the right option.
What happens if the weather changes during the trip?
Our captain monitors conditions throughout. If the weather changes and it becomes unsafe to continue, we return to shore. Your safety guides every decision on the water.
Do you offer fishing trips?
At the moment we don't, but it is in our future plans. Check back with us often for an update.
