Whether diving will be a career you wish to pursue or a hobby for leisure time when you come to Diani Beach Kenya, you will require some essentials. A list of the most important scuba diving essentials include:

Scuba masks

Do you know the window to your underwater world? It is the scuba diving mask. This type of face mask traps some air in front of your nose and eyes. This is important because it increases your vision underwater and enables equalization of ears and sinuses as you drift further underwater. This piece of gear is a must-have and should fit comfortably.

Buoyancy Control devices or BCDs

Also called buoyancy compensators, BCDs are important for scuba diving in Diani Beach or anywhere in the world. They look like a backpack and their role is to enable you control your position while deeply submerged in water. When air is added to the internal bladder of the BCD, buoyancy increases. This causes the diver to move toward the surface of the water. But, when you remove air from the internal bladder, it will cause you to sink to the bottom of the ocean. There is a perfect BCD to suit your scuba diving styles, including the jack-style and back-inflate style.

Scuba regulator

The device that can help improve your breathing underwater is a scuba regulator. It attaches to the scuba tank directly, transforming compressed air into breathable air each time you breathe in.

Fins

Just like your face mask, scuba fins are super important. They enhance your kicks underwater, allowing you to move efficiently. Full-foot fins are mostly preferred because they are more protective than open heel fins. As there are different brands for fins, you should get a pair that fits properly and looks nice on you.

Drysuits

These suits are worn when diving in cold water places. They keep your body dry and warm all thorough. They don’t allow water to leak and so you can wear some clothes underneath. Available with quality seals and zippers to avoid leaks, these suits appear in various shapes and sizes. Just get one if you plan to dive in cold water conditions.

Wetsuits

These are an important dive gear to have. A scuba wetsuit is normally made of foam neoprene rubber and can have other design accessories to enhance their appearance and usage. Though they leak a little, scuba wetsuits increase your comfort underwater.

Scuba Computer

These are used to track the diver’s dive time, temperature, depth and related data. A dive computer of the air-integrated kind enables one to track the amount of air left in the scuba tank. Some are console computers while others could be attached to the wrist. You need a dive computer to enhance your dive adventures.

Scuba weights

These have almost the same role as buoyancy control devices. They are used to control buoyancy underwater. Made of lead and coated with a plastic material, scuba weights do not rust. You can attach them to a weight belt that you often wear on top of your wetsuit. Some of these can be used with your BCDs.

Scuba knives

These can improve your defense underwater. It should just be sharp, waterproof and portable. As different styles and sizes exist, ensure you pick the best item.

Scuba watch

A watch is not a must to have when diving in Diani Beach. However, it is a dive gear you may turn to if your dive computer stops working properly. It can help track your time underwater and can stay on your wrist throughout.  Most watches are water-proof up to 200 meters down and are useful for diving in any circumstance. You are the person to decide if you need a dive watch for backup or not.

Scuba light device

Diving can be exciting all the time if there is ideal dive light. With a proper dive light, you can penetrate ship wrecks, caves and corals during the day and at night. There are several sorts of lights to pick from. Ensure, therefore, that you select a scuba diving light that can suit the type of diving adventures you plan to do.

Scuba cameras

If you love photography, the bottom of the ocean offers beautiful sceneries to capture with your camera.  It is upon you decide the sort of camera that could suit your endeavors. If you want to do quality photography, then a sophisticated DSLR camera for underwater use is the best choice. Otherwise, a point -and –shoot camera is the most basic and could suit the needs of people who dive for fun.

Final word

Apart from the above-mentioned essentials for divers, there are several other accessories you may consider having before you begin your trip to Kenya.  You could even purchase some snorkeling gear that can be used even when diving. The final choice is yours.
