Equipment& GearGuide

Everything you need is provided and fitted at the centre.

This page is for the two questions guests actually ask: what is included, and what is worth bringing from home.

The kit you will be handed

Eight items, all included, all fitted to you rather than issued by size. If a piece does not feel right on the boat we swap it.

Mask

Mask

Fitted before you get in the water, not on the boat

Regulator

Regulator

Serviced on schedule, checked before every dive

BCD
BCD

Sized to you — a loose jacket ruins your trim

Tank
Tank

12L aluminium, filled at the centre each morning

Weights
Weights

Set with you, then adjusted after the first dive

Computer
Computer

On every guided dive, and taught on every course

Gauge
Gauge

Your own air is your responsibility from day one

Wetsuit
Wetsuit

Shorty or 3mm, depending on the month and on you

What we provide

Included on every course and every guided trip, at no extra charge.

Mask, snorkel and fins

Fitted rather than handed over. A mask that seals is the single biggest difference between a good first dive and a miserable one.

Wetsuit

Chosen for the conditions on the day. Water here runs roughly 25–29°C through the year, so exposure protection is about comfort and reef safety rather than cold.

BCD and regulator

Adjusted to you before you get in. Serviced and checked before every dive.

Tanks and weights

Included on all trips. Weighting is checked in the water rather than guessed on the boat.

Surface marker

Deployed on drift dives and carried by guides as standard.

Snorkelling equipment

Mask, snorkel, fins and flotation for guests staying at the surface, including children's sizes.

Worth bringing from home

—Your own mask, if you have one that fits — nothing rented ever fits as well
—Your dive computer, if you dive with one and know its behaviour
—Reef-safe sunscreen, applied well before you get on the boat
—Certification and logbook details, or the MySSI app on your phone
—A towel, a hat and something to change into

Leave at home

Full sets of hire-grade equipment, weights, and tanks — all of it is here, and airline baggage is expensive. Also leave anything you have not dived with recently: an unfamiliar computer or a new BCD on the first dive of a holiday is a poor combination.

Gloves are not part of reef diving here. Nothing on the reef needs touching.

How equipment is looked after

Equipment is checked before every dive, rinsed after every trip and serviced on schedule. If something does not feel right on the boat, we swap it rather than talk you into it — that is the whole point of having spares.

Specific brands, servicing intervals and hire rates for personal equipment are confirmed on enquiry.

Frequently asked questions

Is equipment included in the price?

Yes, on courses and guided trips. Nitrox and specialist personal equipment are confirmed separately at booking.

Do you have children's sizes?

Yes. Tell us ages and heights when you enquire so we can confirm fit before you book rather than at the centre.

Can I hire a dive computer?

Ask when you book. Availability is confirmed in writing rather than assumed.

Do I need a wetsuit in warm water?

Most divers want one — for sun, for accidental reef contact, and because an hour underwater cools you more than you expect.

Is nitrox available?

Ask before you travel. Availability and the certification required are confirmed at booking.

Can I buy equipment there?

Retail stock varies. Message us with what you are after and we will tell you whether to buy it before you fly.
